New Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Special School for Luton

We are pleased to provide an update on the new SEMH special school following the consultation period. The planning application for the school has been approved by Luton Borough Council, paving the way for the development of this important facility.

The new school will provide specialist education for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, supporting the growing demand for inclusive learning in Luton. The approved plans cover both the main school building and additional facilities, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and accessible environment for students.

The project will be delivered in phases, with construction expected to begin in line with planning requirements. The school is projected to open in January 2027, with phased intake of pupils as the building becomes ready.

We would like to thank all members of the community who contributed to the consultation. Your feedback helped shape the design and operation of the school, particularly around transport, parking, and site accessibility.
